Jakob Gielen (b. 1966) is a long-standing, successful business entrepreneur. He is sole owner of the Gielen Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (Gielen Limited Liability Investment Company). As managing partner of several of the companies in the portfolio, he is responsible for their commercial administration. In order to more effectively meet the demands of this position he founded the Gielen Beratungsgesellschaft mbH in 2003. In the summer of 2011 the Company changed its name and legal status to become backbone management ag. Today Jakob Gielen is chairman of the board.
Mr. Gielen completed his degree in Business Management and Administration at the University of Cologne. Before embarking on his career as an independent entrepreneur, he was active within several sectors in the areas of Controlling and Finance, as well as in Investor Relations. Amongst others he played a leading role in what is today Deutsche Steinzeug Cremer & Breuer AG. Until the middle of 2000 he was Head of Corporate Controlling / Account Management, responsible for the establishment and expansion of Controlling / Account Management within the whole group of companies. Subsequently he was CFO of Matchbid AG, responsible for Finance as well as Legal and Human Resources.
Jakob Gielen has had many years of experience in developing Business Plans and is well grounded in the commercial modeling of a very wide range of business ideas which he himself has frequently implemented. With more than ten years of experience as Managing Director / Board Member, he is well versed in the leadership of organizations and personnel, and in dealing with shareholders and credit grantors (banks; venture capital). He builds on his extensive knowledge in corporate management and organizational development as well as on his business experience to support founders / entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses.
Jakob Gielen is founding partner and stakeholder in the Logistics and SCM-Consulting Company Setlog GmbH, located in Bonn and Witten. As such he is Setlog’s authorized representative for Finance as well as for Legal and Human Resources. In addition to this he has been instrumental in establishing subsidiaries in the USA and in China. He is Vice President / Treasurer of Setlog Corp., New York; and also member of the Board of Directors of the German-Chinese Joint-Venture Company SGT (Shanghai Gino Telema Resistor Comp. Ltd.), Shanghai. Mr. Gielen has recently successfully sold his shares in GINO AG Elektrotechnische Fabrik. He is however still committed to the Company, but now as Chief Financial Officer, acting on behalf of the new majority shareholders.
